Who knew speed dating could be this educative?

Last week, the participants and partner companies got together for an out of the box training day: speed dating. This non-romantic version of speed dating was a great success. Students and partner companies traded their classrooms and offices for the creative DesignLab in the Gallery at the campus of the University of Twente. 19 partner companies came to support the students and further develop their ideas and prototypes.

Miriam Iliohan (project manager Design Lab), opened the event with an introduction, after which Mike Verkouter ( Novel-T) explained more about all the possibilities for entrepreneurial students at the UT. Gilles Meijer (Co-founder Golden Egg Check) provided additional information about the Golgen Egg Check. Next, the partner companies gave their one-minute pitches to introduce themselves and their company as an introduction to the second part that took place later that day, the actual speed dating.

In the DesignLab the partners were ready for 7 rounds of speed dating. During each round the student pitch their concept in one minute to start off. This is a great way to practice for the real deal at the final event on 13 June. Next, they brainstormed, shared new insights and were provided with useful feedback for either their concept, elaboration or business plan.

After an intensive 7 rounds, it was time to relax, have a drink and a little bite to eat. Partner companies and students quickly gathered and continued their chats.

We would like to thank all students, coaches and partner companies for making this a very educative and fun day!
